winter decor

One of my favorite seasons to decorate for is the winter. Although I'm a summer girl myself I love all the clean decor once the Christmas decorations come down. I love to have lots of crisp whites and fresh greens in my winter decor. I'll be back next week with pics of my own home but here's some inspiration! Have a great weekend!

Top 10 of 2010

Rhonda over at Southern Hospitality is hosting a Top 10 of 2010 party! What a fun way to look back at our favorite projects from this year! Make sure you head over there to check out everyone's favorite projects!

While in no particular order this first project might actually be my top project. Who could forget all the blood, sweat and tears that went into refinishing the stairs?? This was a huge project.. I'm still not ready to finish the rest of our stairs!

And to continue with the entry I loved the difference painting the front door black made!

My master bedroom got a mini-facelift with this next project. The damask stenciled accent wall! I still love this one!

One of my favorite furniture transformations was Monica's armoire. It was certainly not an easy one!

This golf course project was the perfect addition to our basement. And it made the perfect gift for Mr O'!

Our powder room got a little painting too.. The cherry cabinets were all painted black!

How could I forget painting all the door knobs?? It took a while to do them all but it was so worth it! They look brand new!

While this wasn't actually a project it was a big change in my dining room... the new chandelier. That traveled the east coast for 6 months! It was so worth the wait!

The kitchen island got a makeover this year.. I painted it black!

And lastly, the chalkboard wall! Such a fun addition to our kitchen.

looking back on 2010

Remember my 10 for 2010 post from last year? Well it's time to see if I really did anything on the list. And of course sent new goals for 2011!

Well I have to admit I didn't get nearly as much done as I thought I would. But I did manage to finish design school over the weekend! So at least going into next year I'll have a ton more time on my hands.

Let's break down the list...

Add beadboard to third bedroom/computer room - Well, I ended up deciding not to do this one at all! I have painted the room in the past few months and just ordered some fabric to make panels for the windows. I'm calling this one a wash!
paint all door knobs  - Done! Check out my how to post here!

have ceiling light installed in master bath - Haven't made any progress on this one! I still haven't found a light fixture I've loved.. carry this one over to next year....

sew slipcover for wing back chair for living room - Well I gave this one a shot.. and decided I'm not into sewing slipcovers. After it sat around for six months or so I just purchased this beauty from jcp.com. You can't beat the price and it looks great!

paint ceiling fan in master bedroom - Done! Finally another one I actually did! I don't think I ever posted a pic but it looks exactly like this one in our living room.

sew slipcover for bench in master bedroom - Another one I changed my mind about. I'm not sure how I feel about the bench itself and may want to do a little rearranging in my bedroom next year.

finish refinishing/upholstering settee - Well, this one is about 90% done. And I don't think I touched it this year. It's been sitting in my basement all year...

purchase roman shades for living room - Done! Woo hoo. This one didn't come cheap but it made a HUGE difference in our living room. Even Mr O' loved this one! Here's what they look like...

upholster headboard for master bedroom - Well I didn't get to this one this year. I ended up changing out the bed in our guest room which threw a wrench in my overall plan. I intend on moving our current bed into the guest room before doing the headboard. The guest bed is currently for sale so we're moving along...

sew burlap curtains for living room - I'm undecided on this one. I painted my living room yet again this fall and now I'm liking the brown panels we have in the living room.

Stay tuned for my goals for 2011!

Color of the Year 2011

So, 2010 was the year of turquoise... what will 2011 be? Well, Pantone says it is Honeysuckle! I'm a pink gal and I love this gorgeous shade. I can't wait to see where it will pop up in 2011!

For more info check out Pantone's announcement here.
