I saw these photos in an issue of House Beautiful a few months back and just had to share. I love the unexpectedness of the pink.

a new restoration?
If you've been on Restoration Hardware's site recently you may have noticed another side of them. They have launched a new line of furniture and accessories that is quite different from their typical, neutral, Pottery Barnish look.
I love this vintage inspired pedestal table...
This cabinet made from weathered looking shutters is so chic.
And this corbel shelf might just be my next project...
The new items look very French inspired and much more feminine than their typical pieces. Here is a gorgeous living room....
I absolutely love the linen pillows! If you want something a little edgier, here is an amazing leather pillow with a Fleur de Lys pattern.
I've never seen anything like this piece... it's a steamer trunk so large that it's used as a secretary desk. Amazing.
This chair, which is also available as an armchair, comes in a variety of fabric choices!

This tufted bench is truly amazing. I would love it covered in a neutral linen or even velvet. And here it is in a dressing room!

There are so many more items I absolutely love so be sure to check out their latest catalog or website!

knockout knockoff
If you've been reading this blog you know I've been lusting over this horse from Pottery Barn...
I started out by tracing the horse on tracing paper and then transferring it to a 2' square of plywood. I then painted the white areas with some antique white paint. Once that had dried I went over it with a hand sander to beat it up a bit. Lastly, I used some walnut colored gel stain over the entire piece. I love the way the lines in the wood show through in the stained area. At a total cost of about $15 this is a steal compared to the $199 price tag of the Pottery Barn one. And I was able to scale it down to fit in my decor.
With a rainy weekend ahead of me I decided to make my own horse this weekend. I was a terrible blogger and didn't take any pictures of the process.. but here's the final result. I have to say I'm pretty pleased with myself on this one.

what's your stylescope?
I found this fun quiz on Homegoods.com that helps you determine your personal style when it comes to your home. It was quite short and pretty accurate. Apparently I'm "Country Casual". I don't think I'm at all country but the explanation is pretty dead on. Here's what it said...
And the colors were definately some of my faves...
If you want to try it for yourself click here. Oh and there is a chance to win a $5000 shopping spree, now who wouldn't want that?!?
a chair makeover
It all started when I saw these chairs in the most recent Pottery Barn catalog. I have similar ones in my dining room, but wouldn't paint them. So I scoured Craigslist to find something similar.
And here they are now! I used my go-to paint, Heirloom White, after a little sanding and Kilz primer and then recovered the seats with some tan fabric I found at Joann. I LOVE them.
I found these beauties for $40! With a little work they'd be perfect....

amazing makeover
I stumbled upon this amazing kitchen transformation yesterday and just had to share it with you all. I was reading past articles on one of my favorite blogs, Urban Grace Interiors, when I found an article about interior designer Anne Turner Carroll and how she redid her own kitchen.
Here are the before pictures, it's truly your typical builder basic kitchen.... complete with those plain cabinets and laminate floors.

She started by moving the cabinets up on the wall to allow for more room and adding crown moulding.
And here is the amazing after... I absolutely love the antique white subway tile back splash and the color of the bottom cabinets. I love when people mix light and dark colors in a room.

I'm thinking ahead a bit about fall decor. Don't get me wrong, I'm in no hurry to get through the summer but I'm loving all the cute fall stuff that's coming out. Here are a few things I'm longing for...
A topiary for my mantle...
Cast iron urns for my front door...
Maybe filled with pumpkins...I'd love to see what you guys are wanting for fall....

loving...
I am absolutely loving these vintage looking settees! They are so classic and elegant. Keep your fingers crossed for me, I'm hoping to snag one off of Craigslist.
This tan linen one is from Wisteria... I love, love, love this chocolate brown one from Ballard Designs. It is a great mix of a masculine color with the feminine lines of the piece.
