an easy feather wreath

I have been looking for the perfect white feather wreath since last Christmas and finally decided just to make one myself. It was such a simple project and for just a few dollars you have a unique wreath.

So I started out with a simple foam wreath form from a craft store.

Next, I wrapped a white satin ribbon around the wreath form so if any areas showed through they would be white and not green.

Then I wrapped two white boas I purchased at a local craft store around the wreath form and secured it with some hot glue. I used a plain white silk ribbon to hang it over my mantle. I love it!

loving: rustic dining rooms

I have been absolutely obsessed with the look of combining rustic dining furniture with girlie pieces. I just love how it's unexpected yet looks perfect together!

wordless wednesday: fireplaces

new life for an old shutter

A few weeks back I found this old shutter at a local antique mall. I had the perfect use for it...

I started out by sanding off the old paint and giving it a few light coats of Heirloom White. I then sanded it down with a power sander to give it a very distressed look. Lastly, I drilled a hole under each of the three squares and screwed in a glass knob.

All it needed to finish it up were two d rings on the back so I could hang it right by my front door...

Ahh, the perfect set of hooks to hang the dogs leash, coats, etc on!
