a tale of two tables
I recently painted two small tables I've found. A coffee table I found at a flea market and a vintage Hitchcock table I found on Craigslist. I especially love how the end table came out!
And here's the after. I took the varnish off the top and just used a coat of poly to protect it, giving it a more rustic look. This is the second table. A super cute, and girlie Queen Anne style coffee table. Quite a score!
Here it is when I got it... desperate for a paint job.

Here is the "after" painted antique white and distressed of course!

up next...
My lovely aunt found this ugly headboard for me a few weekends ago. While it is in terrible shape, I knew it would be perfect for a project I've been dying to try.... An upholstered headboard. They are all the rage right now and while I desperately want one for my own bedroom, this full size headboard will be the perfect test.
Here is what it currently looks like...
The plan is to paint the legs and get started on upholstering the rest of it. I'll keep y'all posted.

10 minute makeover
What do you do when your decor has changed and something you love doesn't fit in? Give it a makeover! My cousin recently moved and this cute little cork board she had in her kitchen no longer fit in with her new decor. In less than 10 minutes I gave it a whole new look.
Here's the final look. I think it's so cute! I used some Liquid Nails to attach the embellishment to the board and added a ribbon to the top. For only a few dollars and a few minutes you have something new!
I didn't want the red to show through when I distressed the edges so I did a light coat of matte black paint to start. I just used some painters tape and and cardboard to cover the cork.
Here it is after a coat of Heirloom White..
For the finishing touch I added a wooden embellishment I found at a local craft store. This too got a coat of black spray paint and a little distressing.

wordless wednesday
I've decided to post just pictures on Wednesdays.... ones that I find to be inspirational. For the first Wordless Wednesday post I'm focusing on lighting. I've been searching high and low for a light fixture for our master bath and have come across some beauties. Enjoy!

rate my space inspired
A few months back I found this gorgeous dining room by moredesign on Rate My Space. I loved how calm it was and knew it would be the perfect look for my living room. I love the balance of the light and dark colors.
Here is my living room before the makeover...
I chose to use Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage for the wall color and used Dutch Boy Brilliant White in Semi-gloss for the trim. I love the contrast of the dark panels against the light walls!

99 Days 'til Christmas
Seriously, it's around the corner. And Pottery Barn is not going to let us forget. It's expected that stores will start promoting holiday shopping way early this year due to the economy and PB is no exception. While perusing their website today I discovered their Christmas decor is already out!
I bought these stockings last year and need to purchase a tree skirt to match...
I'm loving all the mercury glass! It'll be a major part in my holiday decor!
I need to get a tree topper too. I love this glittered one...
