So then I decided on doing a stencil. I love the idea that when you're sick of it you can just paint over it! So easy. And it's so much more affordable than doing wallpaper. I looked through various stencil websites and loved the look of those from Cutting Edge Stencils. I decided to go with the Damask Stencil Verde. I love the bold yet classic look!
First for the reveal, then the details... here it is!
I wanted more subtle color for the stencil I knew I found it when I saw Folk Art Metallic paints at my local craft store. I went with the Metallic Pearl White. It is perfect! I love how it looks different depending on where you're standing in the room. I used three bottles for the entire wall.
So how long did it take you ask? About a 4 or 5 days. I did a little bit at night while watching some TV. Cutting Edge recommends using a foam roller to paint it on rather than a regular stencil brush. This really helped to speed things up.
I have to admit while this project was time consuming it was really easy. Even for someone who has never done any real stenciling. Sure there are mistakes, but it looks wonderful and I'm the only one who would even notice most of them. Once I got the hang of how to line it up it went very quickly and the results kept getting better.
Now for the best part... The folks at Cutting Edge Stencils were kind enough to send me the Damask Verde stencil and now there going to send one of you one too! And the best part? You get to pick which one you want to try!! Here are the rules:

How pretty this wall of yours is! The stencil work is subtle but gives the illusion of wallpaper. I've been considering something similar for a few added textural touches in my home. Great inspiration
