a basic upholstered headboard

Upholstered headboards are all the rage these days, so I just had to try to make one myself. I started out with this full size headboard I found a few months back that was just dying for a makeover.

I just primed and painted the legs to get rid of those bright colors and then we were ready to go!

Next I  covered the headboard in two layers of batting and stapled it to the back of the wood.

After it was covered it just needed to be covered with fabric! Tightly wrap the fabric around the headboard and secure it with staples.

Here it is. Looks completely different and probably cost less than $20 for the whole thing!

  1. I've seen this in many recent magazines and love the idea! I wanted to do it, and thought I'd experiment....now with your pictures, I should be successful on my first try! Thanks for figuring this out for me.

  2. Looks great! I think it would be really pretty with a stenciled initial as well! What an easy and pretty transformation.
