Now that it's officially time to get ready for Christmas I thought I'd post some holiday inspiration pics. We're going to get our Christmas tree this weekend and finish decorating. I can't wait. This really is my favorite time of the year!

gilt frame

So a few weeks back the Pottery Barn holiday catalog arrived in my mailbox. Of course I loved just about everything in it but this one item really stood out... This gilt frame cardholder.

The $199 price tag wasn't however in my budget. So I decided to make my own. I started out with a basic black frame I got years ago from Ikea. I then applied gold leaf to the whole thing.. After the leaf was dry I sanded it down a bit to give it that distressed look.

I picked up some black picture hanging wire at a local craft store. I cut three pieces for and secured it with little wood screws.

Then for the clips I took some little clips that come with curtain rings. They already have little hooks on them so they're perfect for this project!

Here it is all finished, hanging on the chalkboard wall in my kitchen. I just love the contrast on the black wall. I think I may just keep it up all year!

holiday wish list

It's that time of the year where everyone starts thinking about what they want for Christmas. I'm way ahead of the game with my shopping this year! woo hoo! But I thought I'd get a list together of what I'm asking for. *hint hint. Of course it's a mix of stuff for myself and the home!

Hunter Wellies. I love this dark gray color! Perfect for the winter and spring!

This adorable David Yurman ring. I love to stack rings so this would go perfectly with others I have.

Gold Michael Kors watch. I have been wearing so much gold this season! And I love Michael Kors.

 

I desperately want a digital SLR. I love Canon and have a regular Rebel but need an upgrade!

Love this loveseat from Terrain. I have no place for it, but I'm sure I could find one. A girl can dream right?

How cute is this boot scraper? I just love the little birds!

wordless wednesday: green living

chalkboard wall!

I finally painted a wall in our kitchen with chalkboard paint! And I love it! Here is the before shot...

After two coats of chalkboard paint I rubbed chalk over the entire wall. Then you rub it into the paint, I just used a papertowel. Then wiped the whole thing down with a damp rag.

Here it is! I think it could still use another wipe down but it's looking great. Now what to write on it...
