fit for the queen

A few months back I saw this post on La Dolce Vita about a store in California called Juxtaposition Home. The pictures really inspired me and illustrated exactly what I had been thinking for the decor in my living room. I had just painted my living room in a more neutral gray, Silver Drop by Behr and was looking for a more vintage/industrial feel. I spotted this framed vintage British flag and knew I just had to have it.

Now it is for sale at Juxtaposition Home but the price tag wasn't exactly in my budget. So I started searching eBay for a flag that I could frame myself. I then picked up a frame at AC Moore and some white linen to mount my flag to. Days later it arrived, straight from England!

I attached the linen with a little hot glue around the edges and then put the flag right on top of it! Here it is hanging over my couch!

crossing one off the list

Working on my 2011 goals this week! I'm looking for the perfect lantern for over my kitchen island. The kind folks at CSN Stores are going to help me cross this one off the list! The hardest part is picking! The have so many options. CSN Stores really has everything you could ever imagine from lighting to TV stands for flat screens to power tools!

Hopefully I have something like this in my own kitchen soon!

all you need is love

So I wanted to make a pillow for Valentine's day.. but I'm not really into the color red or anything that looks like your typical Valentine's decor options. So I decided to take this Philadelphia landmark and use it for a pillow!

I started out by making a basic pillow cover out of some linen I had around..

Then I blew up a the image and used it as a stencil to trace out the image onto my pillowcase.

I then painted the image with some black fabric paint, inserted the pillow and sewed it up! Here it is! Perfect for Valentine's Day.

winter mantel

Well all the Christmas decorations are finally put away and the winter decor is up! I love decorating for winter. It just feels so clean after all the Christmas stuff. I used the same reindeer moss wreath from last winter and added a few new things too!

Like this adorable rustic horse from Wisteria. It was a steal from their after Christmas sale! I LOVE it. Mr O' and I are trying to come up with good name for him :) How do you decorate for winter?
