lamp makeover
With yard sale season beginning I thought I'd show you how easy it is to spruce up a yard sale find. This vintage lamp actually belongs to my aunt, who thought it would great in an oil rubbed bronze color.
Since it is two different finishes I started out by using a basic gray primer on it to even out the finish. A few coats of Rustoleum's Dark Bronze Metallic spray paint and it has a whole new life!

Another fantastic giveaway at Dreamy Whites!
Dreamy Whites is one of my favorite decor blogs. You may remember a giveaway on there a few weeks back... Well, she's topping the last giveaway by giving away a duvet cover from Annette Tatum's home collection. If you haven't checked out Annette's bedding you MUST run over there. She's amazing. And she recently came out with a gorgeous new book, The Well-Dressed Home. I read it cover to cover one night without even getting up!
I'd pick this gorgeous duvet... Brocade Pearl. It's stunning. Good luck!

friday finds: Nashville
This sofa table is stunning. I would paint it "Mermaid Net" just like this sofa table I have my own home. It would be gorgeous with just some fresh paint and new knobs! And the best part, it's only $25!
Isn't this the most adorable side table? It would be perfect in a bedroom. I'd have to paint this one white and add a cute knob. Maybe even a pink one!
I can't believe how gorgeous this vanity is! And that someone is selling it for only $100!
This cabinet could be used a million different ways. It could be extra storage in a nursery, or as an entertainment center. Or even in a kitchen or dining room. And it's a steal at only $50!!
Last up is this amazing dresser. I don't usually spend this much on pieces I'm going to refinish but this dresser is simply stunning. I do think it's worth the $200 they're asking... But why not offer less!

loving: pantry doors
I've been dreaming recently about replacing my own pantry door with one of these vintage looking ones. I don't know if I prefer the screen ones or the chalkboard best. What do you think?

friday finds: Portland
This week were heading out to the west coast to Portland, Oregon. Up first is this adorable cream colored, gateleg end table. It's a steal at only $40 and it doesn't even need any work!
You all know I'm always looking for pedestal tables. They're so classic and can look great in any style. This one does need some paint. And it's a reasonable price at $100.
This king-size headboard looks dated, but it reminds me of this one Holly painted a light gray. It could easily be painted and would look fantastic! And did I mention it's only $10!
I stumbled across this pedestal coffee table.. it would be stunning painted a shabby white! Or even a glossy black. I could not pass this one up if I were in Portland!
This set of two end tables and a coffee table has the rustic look I'm always looking for. It would look great painted, but I think I'd strip the tops and just finish them with a clear coat. Then paint the legs in Heirloom white. For $100 this is a great deal!

Ikea mirror makeover
I've had one of these Malma mirrors from Ikea sitting around forever. After seeing this post from My Sweet Savannah I knew exactly what to do with it!
I started out by covering up the mirror with a little painter's tape and giving it a few coats of Heirloom white. Followed by a little sanding and then some dark gel stain to age it a bit.
I decided to use one of these fleur de lis wooden accents I purchased a few months back at a local craft store. I followed the same process with the fleur de lis as I did with the mirror.
Once both pieces were aged and distressed enough for my liking I used a little liquid nails to attach the fleur de lis to the top of the mirror. Here's the final result. What a difference it makes!
